My son (7) recently asked my , who the woman in his head was. It struck me to tell him an Angel. Was I wrong?

My seven year old is an intense child. With an incredible sense of correctness, he is artistic and creative. One evening he looked at me very seriously and asked who the woman in his head was that spoke to him. She said he told him to do things. I inquired what things and he looked perplexed and said good things. I told him not to worry. It was probably just an angel. That he did not have to speak to her if he did not feel safe doing so. Was I Wrong to do so?
