I own a 96 Dodge Dekota V-6, auto transmission W/ overdrive. It is slow shifting?

from first gear to second gear, wind out to far, but no problem with any of the other shifts. Truck has 78,000 original miles all in town driving. Anyone out there can tell me what the trouble is. Im not sure if this model has a speed sensor, anyway would like to know more details the problem.
